The Indian flag ‘Tricolour’ was insulted by pulling it down during the Khalistani referendum in Ottawa, Canada on Sunday. Slogans were raised to kill the Indian PM and officials.

Thousands of Canadian Sikhs participated in it despite the extreme cold. People stood in a queue of about two kilometers long from morning till evening, holding yellow Khalistan flags in their hands.

These people were taking part in an informal and illegal voting, which is being called ‘Khalistan Referendum’. In this voting, a question was being asked that ‘Should Punjab be separated from India and a new independent country Khalistan be created?’

It was organized by the terrorist organization Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). Organizers claim that more than 53,000 Sikhs from the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec came to vote. People came with small children, newborn babies, pregnant women and the elderly.

Outside the voting venue McNab Community Centre, Khalistan supporters raised slogans like “kill-kill” against the Indian Prime Minister, Home Minister and other leaders. People were instigated against India.

SFJ head terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu addressed the people from abroad via satellite.

Raised questions on Modi-Carney’s meeting at G-20 summit

On the same day, Canadian PM Mark Carney was at the G-20 Summit in South Africa and he also met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi there.

SFJ raised questions as to why the Canadian Prime Minister met Modi on a day when anti-India and separatist activities are taking place in Canada.

The Indian government called this event illegal, it is an attack on India’s sovereignty and Canadian soil is being used to break India.

Trade deal announced between India and Canada amid collection

Meanwhile, India and Canada have announced to restart negotiations for a trade deal. After two years of tension, both the countries are now ready to negotiate a trade agreement.

This decision has been taken in the bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney during the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

After the announcement, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Monday that the target is to take the trade between the two countries to 50 billion dollars (₹4.45 lakh crore) by 2030.

There will be special focus on critical minerals, critical minerals processing technology and nuclear energy. Canada is already cooperating on uranium supply.

Canadian Prime Minister Carney wrote on X that we have started an agreement that can take our trade to more than 70 billion Canadian dollars.

Here, the Indian flag has been insulted many times before. In March 2024, Khalistani protesters in Calgary had cut the tricolor with swords and spears.

During the protest, Khalistanis had written ‘Hindu terrorist’ below the photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath.
