Recently, the Canadian government has released a report named Assessment of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Risk in Canada 2025.

How to raise funds?

The report states that these organizations have strong networks and they raise money in many ways.

These include misuse of banking and money service sector, use of cryptocurrency, direct funding from some countries, misuse of charity and non-profit organizations (NPO) and criminal activities.

Canadian agencies have listed the Khalistani groups with organizations such as Hamas and Hizbullah. However, the Khalistani networks are now working on a small scale as compared to the earlier.

Tension in India-Canada on Khalistan issue

There has been a long dispute over pro -Khalistan activities in India and Canada relations.

India has been concerned many times that the Khalistani group of Canada is using the Khalistani group to carry forward the anti -India agenda and raise funding.

India says that the Canadian government is not taking tough steps on these extremist activities. New Delhi has several times demanded action against Khalistani organizations.

In September 2023, the then PM Justin Trudeau accused India of involvement in the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

India described these allegations as absurd and political purpose. After this, both countries had called back their diplomats.

However, the situation has improved somewhat after Trudeau quit the post and Mark Carney became Prime Minister and the embassy has been reopened. But the wait for strict action on Khalistani organizations is still going on.
