During the search operation, Megan’s damaged glider was found in a crashed state north of Himani Chamunda temple on Sunday itself. Helicopter landing here was difficult due to the inaccessible geographical area. Rescue team member Rahul Singh first landed on the spot from the helicopter with the help of a rope.

According to officials, Megan died due to extreme cold and falling on the rocks. There are said to be marks of serious injuries on Megan’s body. Five other members of the rescue team reached the spot by helicopter on Monday morning. After this, the team together carried the body through snow and rocks about 500 meters up the hill, from where it was safely airlifted to Gaggal Airport.

Now the body of the deceased woman has been kept in Tanda Medical College. It will now be handed over to the Canadian Embassy in Delhi.

This incident has once again highlighted the challenges of paragliding in the Dhauladhar region. Due to Dhauladhar’s inaccessible topography and rapidly changing weather, 26 paragliding accidents have been recorded in Kangra and Mandi districts in the last five years, in which 12 people have lost their lives.
