The first phase of voting in Bihar is to be held on Thursday 6th November, but before that the political atmosphere is heated over the issues of both ‘Katta’ and ‘familyism’. On one hand, the controversial statement of the child in the RJD rally changed the atmosphere, while on the other hand, the fight between the two sons of Lalu family, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, has attracted the attention of the entire state.
‘Katta’ controversy in Samastipur rally
In the rally of RJD candidate Dr. Ejya Yadav in Samastipur district of Bihar, a child gave a controversial statement from the stage. He said, “Right now the boys roam around with sticks, if Tejashwi Yadav becomes the Chief Minister, he will roam around with a machete.”
Hearing this statement, the crowd applauded and even the candidate present on the stage did not stop the child. As soon as the video went viral, Katta became a topic of discussion in Bihar.

This is the same Bihar where the indigenous guns made in Munger had once become a symbol of crime and kidnapping. Now that that era has been curbed, such a statement in the rally has given an opportunity to NDA to remind them of the old Jungle Raj. Political experts believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will definitely capitalize on this issue in his rallies.
Voting on 121 seats in the first phase
Voting will be held on 121 seats of Bihar Assembly in the first phase on Thursday. Last time, NDA had won 59 seats on these seats, while the Grand Alliance had won 61 seats, which means the competition was very tough. However, in 2020, Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party had caused damage to JDU’s vote bank. According to the data, the margin of defeat of JDU on 22 seats was less than the votes of LJP. If LJP had been with NDA, then NDA could have won around 81 seats in the first phase.
But this time the circumstances have changed. BJP, JDU and LJP (Ram Vilas) are in the fray together. Therefore, NDA aims to win more than 80 seats in the first phase so that according to Amit Shah, the total figure of 160 seats can be achieved.
Tejashwi vs Tej Pratap: ‘Mahabharata’ in Lalu family
The most high-voltage contest in the first phase is on two seats – Raghopur and Mahua. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is in the fray from Raghopur. His elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav is contesting elections from Mahua. But this time the story is not about familyism, but about family conflict. Tejashwi Yadav has given ticket to Mukesh Kumar Roshan against his brother from Mahua seat, while Tej Pratap has also fielded Prem Kumar Yadav against Tejashwi in Raghopur.
This political war between the two brothers has brought the Lalu family into the limelight. Taking aim at his younger brother, Tej Pratap said, “There are no brothers in the battlefield of Mahabharata, there are only enemies.” Meanwhile, mother Rabri Devi said, “I am a mother, I want the victory of both my sons.”
New chapter of division of political families
This battle between Tejashwi and Tej Pratap has refreshed the old stories of political families across the country. Thackeray in Maharashtra, Chautala in Haryana, Mulayam Singh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh, and Paswan family in Bihar. Now Lalu family has also openly joined this list.
