About 3000 students of Jammu and Kashmir are studying in Iran. The picture is from Srinagar, where the parents of the students looked worried.
Amidst the ongoing violent anti-government protests in Iran, the central government has made preparations to airlift Indians from there. The government has launched ‘Operation Swadesh’ for the return of Indians. The first special flight will reach New Delhi from Tehran today.
Currently, about 10 thousand Indian citizens are present in Iran, which includes students, businessmen and professionals. Out of these, there are 2500-3000 students who had gone there for medical studies. The Foreign Ministry has also advised to avoid traveling to Iran.
Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) said in a statement that all the students have been registered. The Indian Embassy has collected his personal details and passport. The first batch has been informed to be ready by 8 am on Friday.
The first batch includes some students from Golestan University, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The final list will be shared late night.

People living in Kashmir have demanded from the government that the children who had gone to Iran for studies should be brought back.

It has been said in the advisory that all Indian citizens present in Iran should always keep their passport, visa and other important documents ready with them. For any help in this regard they should contact the Indian Embassy.

All Indian citizens present in Iran who have not yet registered with the Indian Embassy are requested to register through this link (https://www.meaers.com/request/home).

There was a conversation between Jaishankar and the Foreign Minister of Iran
On Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar received a call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. He discussed the situation in Iran. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised Indian citizens not to go to Iran. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, around 10,000 Indian citizens are present in Iran.
This advisory of the Indian government comes after US President Donald Trump’s threat that if Iran continues to respond with violence to the protests taking place across the country, the US may take military action.
Claim- 12 thousand people died in Iran

Protests began in Iran last month after the Iranian currency, the rial, fell to historic levels. It has since spread to all 31 provinces of the country.
Human Rights Activists News Agency, an American organization monitoring the number of deaths in the protests, said that more than 2,550 people have been killed so far. These include 2,403 protesters and 147 people associated with the government.
However, Iran International, a website covering matters related to Iran, has claimed that at least 12 thousand people have died across the country. Most of the people have died due to bullet injuries.
