However, after getting information about the incident, the President of AICWA (All India Cine Workers Association) has appealed to crack down on all the studios conducting auditions in Mumbai and demanded strict action on this matter.

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta issued a notice to Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis demanding strict action. This information was given from the official X account of the association.

The post reads, ‘A shocking incident has come to light from Powai area of ​​Mumbai, where in the name of Bollywood film industry, R.A. A fake audition was being held in the studio. Around 20 budding artistes who had come for audition were allegedly kidnapped, who were rescued by the Mumbai Police with prompt and commendable action.

The association has raised serious questions as to how such illegal auditions were being conducted within a reputed studio without proper scrutiny or permission.

The association has demanded an investigation on these issues-

  • On what basis R.A. Were studios allowed to hold such auditions?
  • Where did the organizers get the data of emerging artists?
  • Who were the people conducting these auditions and what is their background?

The association says hundreds of studios in Mumbai hold auditions every day, attracting thousands of new actors from across India with dreams of working in the film industry. Association President Sundar Shyamlal Gupta said, ‘If such incidents can happen so easily in Mumbai, it means that the life of every budding artist is in danger.’

He further said, ‘This is not just a matter of one incident, it is a matter of restoring confidence in the heart of the film industry of Mumbai, India. The government should take strict and transparent action so that no criminal can again misuse the name of Bollywood for illegal activities.

AICWA has demanded from the state government to immediately check the registration, licensing and credentials of the studios and production houses where the auditions are being conducted. The association has also recommended to the Home Department that mandatory verification protocols be implemented for all auditions to prevent such crimes in future.

AICWA appeals to all budding artistes and technicians to verify the same from official and certified sources before attending any audition or casting call, and to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police or AICWA office.

What is the whole matter of taking 20 people hostage?

50-year-old Rohit Arya, a YouTuber named Rohit Arya, who took 19 people, including 17 children, hostage on Thursday at Ra Studio in Mumbai’s Powai area was killed in an encounter. 8 commandos of the Quick Response Team rescued all the people including children in 35 minutes.

The accused had called 100 children of 10 to 15 years of age for audition for the web series. This audition was to last for two days. During the audition itself, he locked 17 children in a room. After being taken hostage, Arya released a video claiming that she was not a terrorist.

He threatened that if anything happened to him, the children would be harmed. Mumbai Police received information about this at around 1.30 in the afternoon. After this the commandos and police surrounded the studio. The police entered the studio through the bathroom.

During this, Rohit attacked the police team with an air gun. In retaliation, the police opened fire, due to which Arya was injured. He was taken to hospital, where he died at 5:15 pm. Rohit was a resident of Pune. RA used to take auditions in the studio. Also used to run a YouTube channel.
