Therefore, to fix the problem of solar radiation, changes will have to be made in the software. For this, the concerned aircraft will have to be grounded for some time, which will cause operational problems.

India is a major market for the A320 family narrow-body aircraft, and IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express operate these planes.

Domestic airlines operate about 560 such planes. The A320 Family aircraft include A320 CEOs and Neos, A321 CEOs and Neos.

What effect will solar radiation have on the plane?

The A320 family is the world’s most widely used single-aisle plane family. Thousands of aircraft belong to this category. Airbus has issued a distress alert (Alert Operators Transmission, AOT) and has instructed to implement hardware protection where necessary in addition to software updates in many aircraft. This AOT will be reflected in the Emergency Airworthiness Directive of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

It is worth noting that if flight-control data is disturbed by solar radiation, then very important information such as altitude, orientation and control can be incorrect; This may pose a risk to aircraft operation.
