Pre-monsoon rains continue in many areas of the country in 6 states Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. However, there is intense heat in six states. The mercury was recorded above 42°C in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana.
On Friday, 4 people died due to lightning in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, while 8 people got burnt. In Dewas, part of the balcony of a house collapsed due to storm and rain, two women died in the accident.
At the same time, 10 people died due to lightning in Jharkhand and two in Chhattisgarh. In Chamoli, Uttarakhand, a cloud burst-like incident occurred after torrential rain late at night, due to which debris entered the school, 8 big vehicles, ambulances and houses.

Effect of heat in 6 states, mercury crosses 40°C
The mercury remained above 40°C in many cities of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Gujarat on Wednesday. The highest mercury in the country was recorded at 43.4°C in Rohtak, Haryana.
Whereas it was 43.2°C in Lakhimpur Kheri of UP, 43°C in Banda and Agra, 42.1°C in Sriganganagar of Rajasthan, 41.8°C in Gwalior of MP and 41.7°C in Ahmedabad of Gujarat.

28 June:
- There will be heavy rain in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal and Sikkim.
- There is an orange alert of rain in areas close to the sea in Sikkim, Goa, Telangana and Karnataka.
- There is also a warning of heavy rain in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha.
- There is a heatwave alert for the fourth consecutive day in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra (Nagpur-Amravati region).
29 June:
- There is a possibility of heavy rain in Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Odisha, Kerala, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Sikkim.
- Strong storm with speed of 50-60kmph may occur in Bihar. Strong winds will blow in many states including Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, East Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
- Rain with strong winds at the speed of 30-40kmph is expected in Rajasthan. Heatwave will continue in some areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
