The first trial on humans for ‘reverse-aging’, one of the most important goals of medical science, has started. For the first time, an injection that reverses the effects of age has been administered to a human being. America’s Boston-based biotech startup ‘Life Biosciences’ said that its first patient has been given the injection of cellular reprogramming. Under the test, this injection has been injected into the pupil of one eye of a patient suffering from glaucoma. The main objective of this trial is to make the cells weakened due to aging young and active again. Scientists will keep an eye on its effects and side effects for the next 6 months. Earlier, successful tests have been done on rats and monkeys. Now doctors and scientists will monitor the patient closely for the coming several months to ensure whether this technology is completely safe for the human body or not. In this therapy, first of all a single gene therapy injection is given in the patient’s eye. After this, a special course of antibiotics will be given for a few weeks. This antibiotic drug will enter the body and act as an ‘on switch’ for three treatment genes, which begin to reprogram (rejuvenate) the cells. Earlier, in tests conducted on rats and monkeys, it had successfully restored their vision. The human eye has been chosen for this therapy because the eye is separate and safe from the rest of the body. This also makes it easier to monitor side effects. If the trial is successful, it will lead to a new era of aging therapy. Life Biosciences CEO Jerry McLaughlin said that this is a potentially huge and transformative moment not only for his company or aging biology, but for the entire medical science. If this clinical trial is successful, a new era in aging therapy may begin. The goal is to rejuvenate and activate cells throughout the body by improving the way DNA functions and is expressed as we age. Investment by billionaires and pharma companies: Many big investors including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and OpenAI’s Sam Altman have invested money in this technology. Pharmaceutical companies like Eli Lilly and Merck are also increasing investment in this idea. Before trials on humans, this research was limited to rats and monkeys, which has now reached humans. ————- Read these news also… Russia is developing anti-aging technology: Work continues on growing human organs inside pigs. Russian President Vladimir Putin has started a big government project worth 26 billion dollars i.e. about Rs 2.47 lakh crore to stop the increasing age and weakness of the body. In this program named ‘New Health Preservation Technologies’, work will be done on technologies like growing human organs inside special species of pigs. Scientists have prepared a ‘molecular clock’ (molecular clock), which can predict the actual biological age of humans and even the possible time of their death on the basis of their gene activity.
