8 people died in Indore fire.

Cheats in unusual situations

experts According to , electronic locks work fine under normal circumstances but may fail under abnormal conditions such as fire, overheating or short circuit. Dr. Bansod said that the silicon chips and circuits inside the lock can stop working at temperatures above 60-70°C, which can cause the lock to jam.

Whereas, Prof. Jain says that if the battery or circuit fails, in many cases there is no other option left to open the door.

Earlier there were two exits, now only the main door

According to experts, flat culture in cities has increased the danger. Earlier houses used to have two exits, now there is only one main door. If it is controlled by electronic lock, then the exit route is closed in case of emergency.

Pro. Jain says that in a lock dependent on mobile, another person cannot open the door. The lock fails when the network or app fails. Digital lock has increased convenience but complete dependence on it can also be dangerous.

It is common for locks that run on 9V/12V batteries or inverters to drain, swell, or overheat. The user is not aware of the internal fault. Dr. Bansod explains that if the circuit fails suddenly and an accident occurs at that very moment, the danger increases further.

Take these precautions if a digital lock is installed

Experts say that a manual key or lever must be kept in the lock. Keep taking information about emergency operations from time to time. Install smoke sensors. Especially in those parts which are more sensitive.

Install fire alarm and sprinkler systems. Keep getting regular servicing done, so that any problem can be detected in advance. Also keep checking the condition of the battery from time to time.

Digital lock was stuck even 5 months ago

About five months ago, Narmada Sena national president and Congress leader Pravesh Aggarwal died of suffocation in a fire in a penthouse in Indore. His 15-year-old daughter Soumya suffered severe burn injuries and was admitted to Bombay Hospital.

The family was present in the house at the time of the accident. The guards had taken out his wife Shweta and younger daughter Myra safely. The primary reason for the incident was said to be the high security system. AC and digital locks did not work due to smoke and fire, making it difficult to get out. Pravesh had died due to suffocation.

Due to the spread of fire, all the stuff kept in the bedroom was burnt to ashes.

Businessman claims- digital lock is completely safe

Jitendra Khatri, a businessman of such high security locks, claims that they are completely safe. The most special thing about this lock is that if the temperature reaches 55 degrees during a fire in the house, the automatic lock opens.

He said- Even if there is some problem in the smart sensor lock, it comes from outside, such problem does not arise inside the house. People are liking it because of status symbol and security. However, according to estimates, only about 10% people in MP have smart locks installed in their homes.

Price from 6 thousand to 90 thousand

Digital locks come in the range of Rs 6 thousand to Rs 90 thousand. There are 10 to 12 leading companies, among which Godrej, Dorset, Ozone are prominent. All locks work on the same function.
