India Women defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the first match of the T-20 series. India chose bowling on Sunday in Visakhapatnam. Sri Lanka Women could score only 121 runs after losing 6 wickets. India Women achieved the target by losing just 2 wickets in the 15th over. Jemimah Rodriguez scored a fifty, while Smriti Mandhana scored 25 runs.

Sri Lanka’s 3 batsmen were run out Sri Lanka Women, who came to bat first after losing the toss at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium, lost the captain’s wicket in the third over itself. Chamari Atapattu was out after scoring 15 runs, she was bowled by Kranti Gaur. Vishmi Gunaratne then along with Hasini Perera took the team closer to 50 runs. Hasini was out after scoring 20 runs.

Harshitha Samarawickrama then took the team close to 100 runs, but she was out after scoring 21 runs. Deepti Sharma and Shri Charani also took 1 wicket each. Vishmi was run out after scoring 39 runs. After him Nilakshi de Silva and Kavisha Dilhari were also run out. Sri Lanka lost 6 wickets in scoring 121 runs.

Shefali out after scoring 9 runs India Women, chasing the target of 122 runs, lost a wicket in the very second over. Shefali Verma was caught after scoring 9 runs, she was caught by Kavya Kavindi. Vaishnavi Sharma debuted Left arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma got a chance to debut for India. Along with him, left arm spinner Shri Charani was also included in the playing-11. Deepti Sharma was also included in the team along with 2 all-rounders Amanjot Kaur and Arundhati Reddy. Richa Ghosh got a chance at the wicketkeeper position.

Vaishnavi Sharma made her T20 debut for India. He gave only 16 runs in 4 overs.

Second T-20 on 23 December Both the teams will play 5 T-20 series from 21 to 30 December. The second match will also be held in Visakhapatnam. The last 3 matches will be played in Thiruvananthapuram. This is India Women’s first cricket series after winning the ODI World Cup on November 2.
