So far, 1 lakh Agniveers have been inducted in the Indian Army. This information was given by Lieutenant General C.B. Bonappa on Sunday. He said that all these Agniveers have been posted in 70 thousand units. About 200 women are also included in them. He also informed that 50 thousand vacancies have been released for the year 2024-25. Its process is ongoing.
Bonappa said that the scheme was launched in June 2022. We had the first batch, which was recruited between December 2022 and January 2023. They are doing very well.
Agniveers are also working like normal soldiers
Lieutenant Bonappa said that these Agniveers are performing all kinds of operational and professional duties in the same way as any other soldier. According to him, these Agniveers have completely integrated into their units. They wear the same uniform and perform the same duties.

The central government implemented the Agniveer scheme on 15 June 2022.
10% reservation for former Agniveers in CISF, BSF
2 years after the central government’s decision on Agniveers, CISF and BSF announced on July 11 to give 10% reservation to former Agniveers. Preparations have been started for this. Rules will be implemented soon.
BSF DG Nitin Agarwal and CISF DG Neena Singh gave this information. Actually, on June 18, 2022, the Home Ministry had issued a notification in this regard. It said that 10% reservation will be given to former Agniveers in CAPF and Assam Rifles. BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and CISF Armed Forces come under CAPF.
Know what is Agnipath Scheme…
The government launched the Agnipath scheme in 2022. Under this, youth are recruited on contract for four years in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Six months of training is also included in 4 years. After four years, Agniveers will be given a rating based on their efficiency. On the basis of this merit, 25% of Agniveers will be taken into permanent service. The rest will return to the civil world.
In this scheme, soldiers below the officer rank will be recruited. That is, their rank will be as Personal Below Officer Rank i.e. PBOR. The rank of these soldiers will be different from the current appointment of commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers in the army. Recruitment will be done through rally twice a year.
To become an Agniveer, one must be between 17.5 and 21 years old. Also, one must have passed at least 10th standard. Agniveers recruited with 10th standard will be given a certificate equivalent to 12th standard after completing 4 years of service.
