Ahaan Pandey’s childhood and family legacy

Ahaan Pandey is the nephew of Bollywood star Chunky Pandey and cousin of actress Ananya Pandey. His father Chikki Pandey (Alok Sharad Pandey) is a successful businessman, who is involved in the steel business. Mother Deanne Pandey is a famous fitness expert, lifestyle coach, author and former model.

He has written best selling books like “I’m Not Stressed” and “Shut Up and Train” and has given fitness training to many Bollywood celebrities.

Ahan’s grandfather Sharad Pandey (1934–2004) was a member of the team that performed India’s first heart transplant, the first such operation in the country and the sixth in the world. He was considered an expert in bloodless heart surgery. He worked in Nanavati, Breach Candy, Holy Family and KEM hospitals in Mumbai.

He provided free treatment in government hospitals for the poor and became the first president of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons (IACTS) in 1991. A road in Mumbai is named Sharad Pandey Marg in his memory.

Cinematic Arts degree brightens debut performance

Ahaan Pandey completed his schooling from Oberoi International School, Mumbai, which teaches the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. He received a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Cinematic Arts, Film and Television Production from the University of Mumbai.

This course included subjects such as scriptwriting, direction, editing and post-production, which became the foundation of his acting career. School plays and creative projects inclined him towards films, while university gave him a technical understanding. This study strengthened his performance in ‘Sayyara’.

Ahaan Pandey used to make videos on Tik Tok by imitating many stars like Shahrukh-Ranbir.

Ahaan Pandey was a full-fledged TikToker.

While studying, Ahaan Pandey used to share Dubmash videos on social media. In the videos, he used to imitate many stars like Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Before debut with ‘Sayara’, the director of the film had got those videos deleted. This was revealed by the film’s director Mohit Suri himself during a conversation with Komal Nahata.

Mohit Suri had said- Ahaan was a full-fledged TikToker. Getty Galaxy Boy, who dances Bandra style for the front bench. His old videos had gone viral, which have now been deleted.

Ahaan Pandey has worked with his uncle Chunky Pandey in the short film ‘Fifty’.

Have acted in short films

Ahaan Pandey has worked in the 2016 short film ‘Fifty’. This short film was directed by Manav Chauhan. This film was made by Ahaan Pandey along with his friends, in which his uncle Chunky Pandey also acted.

This is an emotional short film of 16 minutes. In this, Ahaan played the role of a kind-hearted schoolboy (Ajay Salve) who sacrifices himself for the education of a poor child. Chunky Pandey played the role of elder Ajay Salve in this short film.

During the NDTV Indian of the Year Awards 2025, Ahaan Pandey had said – That 16-minute emotional film was my first, which was a beginning full of pride, but Covid stopped big projects.

Worked as an assistant director

Ahaan Pandey debuted as an assistant director with the film ‘Freaky Ali’ released on 9 September 2016. Nawazuddin Siddiqui had the lead role in this film directed by Sohail Khan. After this, Ahaan Pandey worked as an assistant director in ‘Rock On 2’, ‘Mardaani 2’ and the Netflix series ‘The Railway Men’.

Was going to debut with some other Yash Raj film before ‘Sayara’

During a conversation with Komal Nahata, Mohit Suri had said that Ahaan Pandey was doing workshops with Yash Raj Films for 7 years. Before ‘Sayara’, Ahaan was going to debut with Yash Raj’s big film ‘Larger than Life’, but due to Covid, that film got cancelled. Still Aditya Chopra expressed confidence in Ahaan and Ahaan did not give up.

When the script of ‘Sayara’ was finalized, Aditya Chopra told me about Ahaan. I spent 4 months to mature Ahaan because earlier he looked very childlike. Now he has become the heart throb of the nation.

Audience’s love made ‘Sayara’ a blockbuster

In ‘Sayara’, Ahaan played the role of a loyal lover with a girlfriend battling Alzheimer’s, which left the audience emotional. It became the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, earning over Rs 550 crore worldwide and proving to be the most successful Indian romantic film.

The youth praised Ahaan’s acting. It was considered a bigger debut than the sons of Aamir and Shahrukh Khan and he won the Debutant of the Year Award.

Ahaan Pandey breaks silence on relationship with Aneet Padda

As soon as ‘Sayara’ was released, fans called Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda ‘It Couple’ and made viral edits on social media. Karan Johar had also hinted that this could be the next big pair of Bollywood. Regarding this, in an interview given to GQ India, Ahaan had said – Aneet is my best friend. The whole internet thinks we’re together, but we’re not.

Ahan explained that their on-screen chemistry is not romantic, but comes from emotional security and understanding. Chemistry is not always love. This is a matter of comfort and safety. A bond like Aneet will not be formed with anyone else. Ahaan had declared himself single.

Ahaan considers himself an outsider and not a star kid.

After the success of the film ‘Sayara’, while Ahaan Pandey got a lot of praise, many people trolled him by accusing him of nepotism. People said that because of his family background he got the film easily. The Pandey family has dominance in the film industry. Her cousin Ananya Pandey is an actress, Ananya’s father Chunky Pandey is an actor.

Ahaan’s father Chikki Pandey and mother Dean Pandey also have deep connections with film personalities, but Ahaan says that his father is not a star, so his journey should not be linked to nepotism.

In an interview given to GQ, Ahaan clearly said that he does not consider himself a star kid. He told that even though his family was associated with the industry, he always kept himself away from it. When asked about his StarKids experience, Ahaan refused and said, “I can’t tell about it because my father Chikki Pandey is not a star. Yes, if I talk about friends, everyone has had their own struggles.

Ahaan Pandey’s parents may be away from the screen, but they are close to stars like Shahrukh Khan. Chikki Pandey is close friends with Shahrukh, hence Ahaan is a good friend of Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan. Still, Ahaan considers himself an outsider.

Now will be seen in an action-romantic film

After the success of ‘Sayara’, Ahan Pandey will be seen in director Ali Abbas Zafar’s action-romantic film, which is being produced by Yash Raj Films. The title of the film is not finalized yet. It is being told that there will be three young lead actors in the film. The shooting of this film will start in early 2026.

During the NDTV Indian of the Year 2025 Awards, Ahaan himself confirmed this news and said – I will romance in action avatar, want to become a Gen Z star. At present the title has not been decided yet.

Apart from Yash Raj’s action-romantic, there is talk that Ahaan Pandey is also working in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film, but no official announcement has been made about it.
