A new modern super specialty hostel will now be built in place of the hostel on which the plane crashed in June last year in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The Gujarat government has decided to construct a 9-storey hostel and canteen block at a cost of ₹105 crore in the New Mental Campus at Asarwa near Civil Hospital.
Minister of State for Health Praful Panseria said that Tata Airlines will give ₹53.12 crore to the Health Department as compensation for the ‘Atulyaam 1 to 4’ block, canteen and sub-station building damaged in the plane crash. There will be accommodation for 236 doctors.
A total of 92 students were present in the hostel at the time of the accident that occurred on June 12, 2025. A structural audit conducted after the accident declared the building unsafe, following which it was decided to demolish it. To ensure that the living facilities of the students are not affected, approval was given to build a new hostel on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

Accommodation arrangements for 236 doctors in the next three years
The new hostel will be built in the New Mental Campus located at IGP Compound, Meghani Nagar. In view of the increase in 48 super specialty seats in the medical field, arrangements will be made to accommodate 236 doctors in the next three years. The government has allotted land for this project. At the same time, ₹ 34.65 crore has been approved for this scheme in the budget for the financial year 2026-27.

The hostel will have modern facilities
The new ‘Atulyaam 1 to 7’ PG Hostel will be built in a modern 9 storey structure. It will have rooms like studio apartments, which will have living room, kitchen, bedroom and toilet facilities. The hostel will also have facilities like fire safety system, RO plant, better drainage, basement parking, modern mess, gym and recreation room.
