Alibaug has become the new hotspot of celebrities. There, Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Deja Vu Farms’, Virat-Anushka’s 32 crore villa and Ranveer-Deepika’s dream bungalow are making headlines. Stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aryan, Gautami and Ram Kapoor have also bought land in Alibaug.

After all, why is Alibaug becoming the new destination of luxury life? We talked to hospitality industry veteran Nakul Anand about this. Nakul Anand has previously been the Executive Director of ITC Limited and is now the Advisory Board Chairman of Tricon Luxury Resorts. Tricon Luxury Resorts is working on luxury hotel and residential projects in Alibaug, which will include high-end villas in addition to luxury hotels.

Question: Nowadays stars like Shahrukh Khan, Virat-Anushka, Ranveer-Deepika are going to Alibaug. It has become everyone’s second home. What do you think is the reason?

answer: Now not only celebrities, more people also want to buy a house in Alibaug. The government is working on transport and infrastructure, due to which Alibaug has come closer to Mumbai. Houses in Mumbai are small, so people want to build a second house there. Alibaug will bring new enthusiasm and new life.

Question: What do you think is special about that area of ​​Alibaug, due to which people like to go there?

answer: I think the best thing about Alibaug is that in Mumbai the flats are small and crowded whereas Alibaug has open spaces and is near the sea. The air there is fresh, there is a view of the ocean, and it is just an hour away from Mumbai.

Question: Earlier Alibaug was famous only for the expensive bungalows and villas of the rich and celebrities. Now that seven star resorts and new facilities are coming up, what do you have to say about it?

answer: Now Alibaug is not just for celebs. Earlier it used to take two and a half to three hours to reach there from Mumbai, now with the improvement in infrastructure it has become closer and easier. Now common people can also go on weekends because of the open environment, clean air and short travel time.

Question: As soon as the name of Alibaug comes, it seems that only super rich people can buy there. Will common people also be able to buy a house there?

answer: Our project is spread over 235 acres like a new city. Here there are not big houses of 2–3 acres, but houses of 3000–4000 square feet so that more people can afford it. Tricon’s vision is to create better quality affordable living, not just for the rich.

Question: Earlier, celebrities used to go to Alibaug so that they could stay away from the media and spend their private time. Now when the crowd will increase and other people will also buy property, will their privacy be lost?

answer: No, because he has his own big properties and estates there. Their house is so big that the outside crowd or media does not make any difference. Therefore their privacy will be maintained, and Alibaug will remain a special place for everyone.

Question: You yourself are a brand and a big name, but have you heard that another celebrity is going to join Tricon Luxury Resorts?

answer: Not confirmed yet, I have also just heard, not sure.

Question: Some celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Kriti Sanon and Kartik Aryan have bought land in Alibaug. Don’t you think this area is now becoming an investment hub?

answer: Absolutely, because now it has become easy to reach Alibaug. Initially the prices will be stable, but in the long run the value of land always increases, hence investing there is a wise decision.

Virat-Anushka’s Alibaug bungalow is a beautiful villa of 10,000 square feet spread over 8 acres.

Question: Will celebs also be able to buy property or live in this project?

answer: Of course, everyone is welcome. There are also affordable options for common people and celebs can also buy big plots or acres of land if they want. The township will have all the facilities like medical, school, shopping, hotel and laundry. If you want, you can also give the house on rent like AirBnB. This will be a completely self-contained township, so that there will be no need to go out on weekends.

Question: Will there be any separate facilities for celebrities?

answer: There will be separate facilities for them. If their plot is big then it will automatically be separated. If they wish, they can also take a place near the access point.

Question: Is Alibaug now turning into a city like Miami?

answer: Yes, absolutely. Alibaug is developing very fast and is going to become the gem of Mumbai. Earlier people used to say that houses in Mumbai are small, now people will proudly say that they have both the city and Alibaug. Where they can both work and relax. Now the travel time has also reduced, hence many people would like to settle in Alibaug. This is becoming a peaceful, clean extension of Mumbai.

Question: Tell us something about the ‘Araya’ project?

answer- ‘‘Araya’ is a big and special project, which we have been making for the last two-three years. It will be spread over 235 acres, which will have villas of different sizes and two luxurious hotels. The construction expertise of Tricon, an American company, and my hospitality experience are coming together to create a new lifestyle project.

There is a special focus on sustainability and wellness. After Covid, people realized how important home, health and environment are. Therefore, at ‘Araya’ we are creating an environment where people can live a healthy and sustainable life.

Nakul Anand says that Alibaug is a world of stars of its own, away from the noise.

Question- What new and special things will people get to see in ‘Araya’?

answer: ‘‘Araya’ is becoming a special lifestyle place where people will be able to see open parks, beautiful pathways and gardens. Facilities like two hotels, club, gym and wellness center will be available here. Rain water will be saved in the project and local materials will be used. There will be art galleries and workshops to support local art. 70 percent of the area has been kept in greenery and being near the sea, living here will be a new experience.

Question: Big people like Oberoi and Hiranandani are also coming into real estate, how do you see it?

answer: We are happy with the competition. The more companies come, the better options there will be for people. If everyone works together, India will progress further.
