अरुणीश चावला रेवेन्यू सेक्रेटरी बनाए गए: बजट से 5 हफ्ते पहले सरकार ने किया प्रशासनिक फेरबदल, बजट टीम पूरी हुई

Arunish Chawla has expertise in taxation, revenue collection and implementation of economic policies.

The Central Government on Wednesday made administrative reshuffle in the Personnel Ministry, 5 weeks before the budget. Arunish Chawla, a 1992 batch IAS officer from Bihar cadre, has been appointed Revenue Secretary.

The post of Revenue Secretary had become vacant after Sanjay Malhotra was appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India in December. Chawla is currently the Pharmaceuticals Secretary. Aadhaar Authority CEO Amit Aggarwal will replace Chawla as the Pharmaceuticals Secretary.

However, till his appointment to the regular post, Chawla will continue to hold the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Culture. With the appointment of Chawla, the budget making team has also been completed.

The budget team consists of the Finance Minister, Finance Secretary, Revenue Secretary, Expenditure Secretary, Economic Affairs Secretary, Chief Economic Advisor (CEA), Budget Chief, representatives of RBI, CBDT and CBIC Chief.

The departments of these officers also changed

• Manipur Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi has been made Higher Education Secretary. He is a 1992 batch IAS officer.
• Presently Textiles Secretary Rachna Shah has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training.
• Neerja Shekhar, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has been made the Director General of National Productivity Council.

Who is Arunish Chawla? Arunish Chawla is a 1992 batch IAS from Bihar cadre. Chawla was serving as the Pharmaceuticals Secretary from November 1, 2023 till his appointment as Revenue Secretary. Chawla has served as Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department. He has also been Secretary of Bihar State Planning Board and Project Director of Bihar Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Society.

According to the Public Affairs Forum of India, Chawla led urban development efforts as Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Housing and also served as Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation.

Chawla was also a Senior Economist at the Capacity Development Institute of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC, USA. Appointed to that post for two years from 2020. He was also given the post of Secretary, Ministry of Culture till August 2024.
