The passengers who helped capture the attacker’s Omani co-pilot Hamam al-Hamami have also been praised. Flydubai flight FZ1073 was en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv on September 30. During the flight Captain Mosquito was attacked in the cockpit and seriously injured. After this some passengers reached the cockpit and caught the attacker. The aircraft was flown to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where Captain Mosquito was treated. The dentist worked for 45 minutes to save Captain Mosquito. After the attack, the dentist Dr. Shota Musaev, who was present in the flight, took care of Captain Smit Mosquito for about 45 minutes. Musev had reached the cockpit after hearing the screaming sound. There the Captain was lying on the floor soaked in blood. He immediately started trying to stop the bleeding and kept talking to the Captain to keep him conscious. Musaev said that the captain had deep wounds on his head and left hand. He pressed the wounds with a T-shirt, but the bleeding did not stop. After this he asked for ice from the crew. He kept applying pressure and applying ice on the wounds for about 45 minutes. He says that whenever he removed his T-shirt and looked at the wound, the blood started flowing again. To keep him conscious, he asked – how many children are there? To keep the captain conscious, Musaev kept talking to him continuously. He asked, “How many children do you have, what are their names?” He kept assuring the Captain that he would reach his family soon. The captain told his name and age. He said that he lives in Dubai and is from India. In pain he said, “Help me. I want to live, I don’t want to die here.” According to Musaev, at one point the captain’s pulse became very slow. When he raised his legs the pulse started flowing again. When the captain’s lips turned blue, Musaev told the crew that the plane would have to land quickly. The captain asked for pain medication, but Musaev refused to give it. He said that the Captain was bleeding profusely, hence shaking him or giving him medicine could have caused further bleeding. The co-pilot used the ax he kept for emergency as a weapon. The UAE government said on October 3 that co-pilot Hamami had attacked Captain Mosquito with an axe. Earlier, initial information about the passengers present in the plane had revealed that there was a knife attack. A special ax is kept in the aircraft for emergencies, which is called ‘Crash Axe’. It is used to reach inside by cutting a panel in case of fire, to make a way to rescue trapped people or to cut or open any part of the aircraft if necessary. The passengers tied the attacker with headphone wires. Musaev, along with handling the captain, also helped the passengers catch the attacker. The passengers tied his hands and legs with headphone wires. When he kept trying to free himself, the passengers tied him more tightly. After this he became calm. After the attack the plane was taken to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Captain Mosquito was treated there.
