This photo of Jeffrey Epstein and President Donald Trump is from 1997, when both of them posed together in Florida.
The US Congress (Parliament) on Wednesday passed a bill to compel the Justice Department to release all secret files related to sex trafficking convict Jeffrey Epstein. This bill was passed in the US Congress with a majority of 427-1 votes.
Trump supporter and Republican Representative Clay Higgins of Louisiana voted against the bill. This bill has now been sent to the upper house (Senate). If it is approved there, it will be sent to President Trump for final approval and making it into law.
Some documents related to Epstein have already been made public, but a large number of files are still sealed. These are likely to include names of famous personalities, leaders and celebrities. President Donald Trump has said that if the bill is passed by Parliament (both houses), he will sign the bill making all the files public.

Voting was scheduled in the House of Representatives after Trump suddenly supported this bill.
Trump refuses to veto the bill
Trump has clearly said that he will not veto this bill. On Sunday he wrote on Truth Social that
We have nothing to hide, this is a fake issue created by the Democrats.

Earlier, Trump used to call this issue a Democratic hoax i.e. a fake story created by the Democratic Party. He also advised Republican leaders to stay away from it.
There are differing opinions within the Republican Party on this issue. Some Republicans believe the files are a way to distract Democrats. But many Republicans are now joining with the Democrats to demand that all the files be made public.

The bill has been supported by Republican leaders such as Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert and Nancy Mace. It was brought together by Massey and Democrat Ro Khanna.
Why did Trump agree on the Epstein files?
Why has Trump, who refused for months to release the Epstein files, finally come out in support of it? This is the biggest question in political circles. Trump’s U-turn was not sudden, there are three main reasons behind it…
1. The atmosphere of Congress changed
On November 12, 218 MPs had signed the petition to release the files. This forced Congress to vote on the bill, meaning the release of the files was almost certain.
Trump knows that the bill will be passed, so continuing the protest could prove politically harmful for him.
2. Trump wants to show that he is not afraid of transparency
According to Al Jazeera’s report, Trump and Epstein were in the same social circle in the 1990s. Democrats were continuously alleging that Trump was withholding the files because their name might also be included in them.
Trump has given a statement releasing the files to overturn this narrative. They want to show themselves clean and confident with such statements.
3. New opportunity to attack Democrats
Trump has long claimed that Epstein’s real connections are to Democrats, particularly Bill Clinton. If the name of any Democratic leader comes up when the files are opened, then Trump can use it as an election weapon.
So now they themselves have started saying that we have nothing to hide, the real question is on Clinton.

This photo is from September 1993. In this, sex racketeer Jeffrey Epstein and his girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell are seen with the then President Bill Clinton. The pair were among Clinton’s VIP guests.
Who was Jeffrey Epstein?
Jeffrey Epstein was a millionaire financier from New York. He was friends with big leaders and celebrities.
He was accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2005. In 2008 he was convicted of soliciting sex from a minor. He was jailed for 13 months. In 2019, Jeffrey was arrested on sex trafficking charges. But before the trial he committed suicide in jail.
His partner Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted of charges of helping him in 2021. She is serving a 20-year sentence.

What was Trump’s connection to Epstein?
Both Trump and Epstein were friends from 1980 to 2000. Both were part of the same circle. In 2004, there was a fight over property and the relationship ended.
Trump’s name appears in many documents, but no crime has been proven yet. No evidence has yet been found on the rumors involving multiple client lists.
Even though Trump’s name appeared in the 950-page court record released in 2024, he was not convicted of any wrongdoing.
