Police say Muna Pandey was shot dead in her apartment on August 26 at around 5:30 pm.

An Indian man has been arrested in the US for murdering a Nepali woman. The man has been identified as Bobby Singh Shah (52 years). A Nepali student was shot dead in her flat in Houston, US.

The name of the deceased is Muna Pandey (21 years). Several bullet marks were found on her body. Police said that the accused had entered the flat of a Nepali student with the intention of theft, but when he was caught, he shot and killed the student.

Police found Muna’s body in her flat on Monday evening. Earlier, police had received an anonymous call informing them about this. Police reached the spot and saw that the girl was lying on the bed with her head down. She had received 3 bullet wounds. Police declared her dead.

Muna came to America three years ago for studies. She was a student at Houston College.

Disclosure 2 days after the murder
Two days after the incident, the police found out from the CCTV footage that she had died on Saturday itself. In this, the accused was seen leaving Muna’s apartment. Based on this, the police released Bobby’s photo.

A day after the photo was released, a man came to the police. He said that the accused’s face resembles Bobby Shah. He has worked with him in a restaurant. He also gave the police the accused’s address and number.

The police arrested Shah on Monday and registered a case against him for murder. Bobby was produced in court on Friday. There he admitted that he had forced Muna to open the door at gunpoint.

Bobby was leaving the room after committing the crime, when his activities were captured on camera.

He was supposed to go for a walk on Saturday, but was murdered before that
According to court documents, Muna had planned to go out with friends on Saturday but he was killed before that. His friends called and messaged him but did not get a response.

Muna Pandey’s friend told the police that a year ago a boy used to follow her. She lived alone in the apartment so she had installed a camera in front of the gate. Now the culprit has been identified in the same camera.

Muna came to study at Houston Community College in 2021. According to reports, Muna was an only child. Her mother had been trying to contact her daughter for several days but her phone was switched off.

The Association of Nepal, in collaboration with the Nepalese Consulate, is making arrangements to bring Muna’s mother to Houston. Funds are also being raised for this.
