US MP Congressman Randy Fine on Monday introduced a bill called ‘Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act’. The purpose of this bill is to give legal authority to the US government to take over Greenland and later make it a US state.
MP Randy Fine gave information about this bill by posting on social media. He said that this step is very important to stop the influence of Russia-China. After this, a complete report of the reforms required for becoming a state will be submitted to the Parliament.
If the bill is passed, America will get the right to make Greenland its 51st state. However, this bill has just been introduced and it has to be passed in both the House and the Senate. Many experts say that it will pass with great difficulty, as it is against international law. Denmark has had control over Greenland for more than 300 years.

Trump supported the bill, said- Greenland is necessary for American defense
President Donald Trump supported this proposal. He has stressed that Greenland is essential to American defense. He recently said that America needs Greenland and they are taking steps in that direction, whether other countries like it or not.
The Trump administration has also discussed ways such as paying people from Greenland to join the US. Officials of Denmark and Greenland have strongly criticized Trump’s approach. He called it disrespectful.

What will change in Greenland if the bill passes
- The President will get special powers: If the bill is passed, the US President will get the authority to take all legally necessary steps. This includes negotiations with Denmark and other ways to annex Greenland into the US territory.

- Statehood process will begin: The President will have to submit a report to Congress detailing what federal laws would need to be changed to make Greenland the 51st state.
- The Constitution of Greenland will be made: After this, Greenland will have to create its own constitution, which will be in line with the US Constitution. Congress would approve it, and Greenland could become a full-fledged US state (like Alaska did).
Trump is planning an attack on Greenland
Earlier, US President Donald Trump had directed to make a plan to capture Greenland. According to the Daily Mail, Trump has handed over this responsibility to the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). However, military officials do not seem to agree with this idea. They consider it legally wrong.
The report says that Trump’s interest may also be related to domestic politics. Mid-term elections are coming up later this year and Republicans are afraid of losing control of Parliament. Therefore, Trump wants to divert people’s attention from the problems of the economy by taking some big step.

Earlier on Friday, Trump had told why it is necessary for America to occupy Greenland. During a meeting with top officials of oil and gas companies at the White House, he said that if America did not do this, countries like Russia and China would take it over.
Trump also said that acquiring Greenland is not about buying land, it is about keeping Russia and China away. We cannot see such countries becoming our neighbours.
Trump cited the presence of Russian and Chinese ships in the area as the reason behind occupying Greenland.

Trump further said, if America is not able to acquire Greenland in an easy way, then other tough methods will have to be adopted. He said, ‘We will do something on the Greenland issue, whether they like it or not.’
He told reporters, ‘I want the deal to be done in an easy way.’ However, he also expressed his softness towards Denmark and said, ‘Well, I am a big fan of Denmark. He has been very good to me.
When he was asked whether the US was planning to persuade the people of Greenland to join the US by giving them money directly. On this Trump said, ‘Right now I am not talking about money for Greenland. Maybe I will do it later. Trump linked the issue to national security.
Greenland PM had said – our country is not going to be sold
Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Fredrik Nielsen has said that when the US President talks about military intervention by linking Greenland to Venezuela, it is not only wrong but disrespectful towards our people.

Know what benefit America can get from Greenland
