US Energy Minister Chris Wright has appealed to India to think again on importing crude oil from Russia. During the press conference in New York, Wright said,
You can buy oil from any country in the world, not just from Russia. America also sells oil and the rest of the countries. We do not want to punish India, but want to end war and strengthen our relations with India.
Wright said that the US wants India to work with him. Wright said that President Donald Trump also wants this war to end soon.
He said that there is a very bright future with India in energy and business cooperation, but we have to find a way to put pressure on Russia and this war is closed.
Wright said that he recently met Foreign Minister Jaishankar and started negotiations on cooperation in future.
Russia said- there is no alternative to our oil
Russia said in August that its crude oil has no alternative, as it is the cheapest. Senior Russian Diplomate Roman Babushkin said at the time that India was getting a discount of about 5% on Russian oil, making it a big profit.
Babushkin also said that India understands that there is no alternative to change oil supply and also called the pressure imposed by the US wrong.
This statement came at a time when tension was increasing between India and America relations. The US imposed a 50% tariff on India for buying oil from Russia.
