Six people, including a child, died in a plane crash in Wisconsin, USA on Tuesday night. Before the accident, the pilot had reported ice accumulation on the wings. The six-seat single-engine plane was en route from Kenosha to Menomonie. The plane fell in the woods near Mirror Lake State Park in Delona Town at around 10 pm. At the time of the accident, it was raining in the area and a storm with thunder and lightning was passing through. Icing on the wings is a major threat to aviation, as even a thin layer of ice can make it difficult for a plane to stay in the air. The pilot had informed about the accumulation of ice at an altitude of 24,000 feet. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the pilot had informed the air traffic controller about the accumulation of ice on the wings. At that time the Piper PA-46 aircraft was flying at an altitude of 24,000 feet i.e. 7,315 meters. The pilot had asked for permission to bring the plane down. Air traffic control allowed the plane to descend. The aircraft then went into a descending turn to the right. The NTSB reported that the turn continued to accelerate. After this, contact with the aircraft and tracking of its data stopped. According to officials, no one on the ground was injured in the accident. No building or other structure was damaged in the accident. The accident occurred about 10 miles (16 kilometers) west of Wisconsin Dells, which is visited by a large number of tourists. This city is called the ‘Waterpark Capital of the World’ due to the large number of waterparks. According to state tourism officials, the region is expected to receive more than 50 lakh tourists in 2025.
