Amid the Iran war, Iraqi MP Abdullah al-Khaikhani has accused America and Israel of stealing clouds in the Middle East.
Abdullah al-Khaikhani said in an interview that America and Israel have been stealing clouds in the Middle East with the help of planes for many years. He said that due to this reason there was drought in the area for a long time.
The MP claimed that now America and Israel are busy in war with Iran, hence the rains have returned again.
After the statement came out, discussions and rumors regarding this claim intensified on social media. Meteorologists said that no such technology exists by which clouds can be stolen.
Iraq Meteorological Department spokesman Amr al-Jabiri described this claim as neither scientific nor logical. He said that it was predicted in September last year itself that 2026 would be a rainy year for Iraq. Experts have appealed to avoid false claims and conspiracy theories related to weather.

The Iraqi MP alleged that American planes break the clouds in the area due to which there is drought here.
Accused of causing drought by changing the atmosphere
According to the BBC report, Khaikhani claimed that an “atmospheric modification weapon” was used to deliberately cause drought by altering the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, some people are linking the heavy rains in Turkey to this conspiracy. A post on social media said that due to the war, American planes are not able to enter Turkish airspace, hence it is raining continuously there. This post was viewed more than one million times.
Some users also claimed that the decades-long drought in Iran ended within five days of the attack on US targets.
Experts- Technology to control weather does not exist
Experts say such claims stem from a lack of trust and understanding of the climate. Scientists say that no technology exists to directly control the direction or intensity of weather. In contrast, climate change is being blamed for increasing extreme weather in the Middle East.
According to Kaveh Madani of United Nations University, cloud seeding is being presented as a political weapon. In cloud seeding, small chemical particles (such as silver iodide) are dropped on clouds to induce rain.
However, scientists say that its effect is very limited. It can increase rainfall only by a maximum of 15% from the existing clouds. Some people believe that by cloud seeding at one place, rain is snatched from neighboring areas.
According to Professor Diana Francis of Khalifa University, understand it as it gives a slight push to the clouds, but does not control the weather.

Irregular rain pattern in this area
According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), temperatures in the region have increased at twice the global average in recent decades. Due to this, heatwaves are becoming longer and more intense and the rainfall pattern has also become irregular.
Total rainfall is decreasing, but when it occurs it is very intense, increasing the risk of flash floods or drought. Experts believe that this increases people’s concern about water, due to which such rumors spread rapidly.
