Amitabh Bachchan met fans behind bulletproof glass outside his home Jalsa in Mumbai on Sunday, November 1. After which the concern regarding the safety of Amitabh Bachchan increased.

The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) on Tuesday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding immediate steps to enhance the safety of actors, filmmakers and their families.

Amitabh Bachchan was seen inside a bulletproof glass cabin on Sunday.

AICWA also mentioned Amitabh Bachchan’s long-standing tradition of meeting fans on Sundays. On this day, fans gather outside the actor’s house Jalsa to see him.

“For more than four decades, he has been meeting fans there every Sunday. People come from India and abroad to see him. At the age of 84, he would never have imagined that he would have to protect himself like this in his own city. His son Abhishek Bachchan, who rarely comes out, stood by his father’s side to protect him,” the association wrote in the letter.

AICWA wrote in the letter, “People have heard about bulletproof cars. Never before has a superstar been seen coming out of his house behind bulletproof glass to meet the people he loves. This picture will be remembered in the history of Indian cinema and it shook the entire industry.”

Mention of attacks on film personalities

In a letter to the Prime Minister, AICWA mentioned cases related to several prominent personalities. These include the murder of Baba Siddiqui in Bandra, firing outside Salman Khan’s house and knife attack on Saif Ali Khan in his house.

The organization also cited the firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu house.

The letter also mentions several incidents of firing targeting comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe in Canada. This also includes the recent firing incident involving Tiger Shroff in Juhu.

AICWA expressed concern over the incident involving Tiger Shroff. The organization said the incident occurred in a busy area where many people were present.

The letter read, “Tiger Shroff was shot at in the presence of a large crowd in Juhu. This is one of the most prominent VIP areas of Mumbai. Two people were shot. No controversy or enmity with anyone has come to light on the part of Tiger Shroff.”

AICWA also said that extortion could be a common reason behind these incidents. According to the organization, criminal gangs are targeting film celebrities because of Bollywood’s popularity and international recognition.

The association alleged that attacks on famous actors and filmmakers are being carried out to spread fear, create identity and extort huge amounts of money. The letter also mentions reports of receiving threats from Tusshar Kapoor for allegedly demanding Rs 5 crore.

Explaining its position, AICWA wrote, “The motive of all these attacks seems to be extortion. Gangsters know that Bollywood is the easiest target and is known all over the world. By attacking famous film personalities, they want to make a name for themselves and extort money on a large scale.”

Question on Mumbai’s law and order

Along with the security of film personalities, AICWA also raised questions on the law and order of Mumbai. The organization said that if such attacks can happen on big names, then the safety of common people is also a matter of concern.

The association demanded concrete security arrangements instead of just giving assurances. The letter said, “Today, law and order in Mumbai has completely deteriorated. If Tiger Shroff is not safe in the heart of the city, then even the common Mumbaikar cannot feel safe. In 2026, the terror of the underworld, which was thought to be over, has returned to the streets of Mumbai. Just words are not enough. Bollywood needs real and visible security.”
