Taliban refugee minister Khalil Rahman Haqqani was killed in an explosion in the Afghan capital Kabul on Wednesday. Khalil Haqqani and his four bodyguards were killed in a suicide attack inside the Refugee Ministry.

According to Reuters, Khalil Haqqani’s nephew Anas Haqqani has confirmed his uncle’s death. Till now no group has taken responsibility for this attack.

Khalil Haqqani was considered one of the main leaders of the Haqqani network in Afghanistan. He is the uncle of Taliban Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani. America had placed a reward of 5 million dollars (Rs 42 crore) on Khalil.

Haqqani network is part of Taliban government

There are very good relations between the Haqqani network and the Afghan Taliban. Since the coup in Afghanistan in 2021, the Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network are running the government together. People from the Haqqani network are in control of many important ministries of the Taliban government.
