Actor Anupam Kher has reacted to the ongoing protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the comments being made on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Anupam Kher has released a video message on Instagram. He said that in a democracy it is everyone’s right to question the government and protest, but using abusive language against the Prime Minister and his mother and misbehaving with policemen is absolutely wrong.

Anupam has demanded the protesters to provide legal evidence of the claims of vote theft.

‘Abusing does not lead to protest’

Anupam Kher said that he is deeply hurt by the abusive language being used against the Prime Minister. He made it clear that the post of Prime Minister of the country should be respected.

According to Anupam, disagreement and opposition have their place on any issue, but it is not right to resort to abusive language to express one’s point.

He also expressed strong objection to the misbehavior, indecent behavior and provocative acts done to the women policemen during the demonstration.

‘If there are allegations of vote theft then present evidence’

Speaking on the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and allegations of irregularities in the voter list, Anupam Kher said that in a democratic system, evidence is necessary to prove the allegations.

He said that if the protesters have any doubts about the election process or the Election Commission, they should present evidence using legal and constitutional avenues.

Anupam said that after seeing the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last 12 years, he has full faith in his leadership and this faith of crores of people of the country should also be respected.

‘A wet man is not afraid of rain’

On the fear of being considered a ‘blind devotee’ or trolled on social media, Anupam Kher recalled a lesson from his grandfather. He recalled that when he was struggling to find work in Bollywood and used to sleep on railway platforms, his grandfather had told him that ‘a wet man is never afraid of the rain’.

Anupam said that if some artists can stand in support of the protest, then the supporters of the government can also express their views openly. They will not hide their opinions to please anyone.

The whole matter is related to CJP demonstration

This controversy has started after the nationwide protest called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The protesters had demanded the resignation of the Election Commissioner, alleging rigging in the Revision of Voter List (SIR) and vote theft.

There were heated arguments between the police and the protesters during these protests at many places including Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan. During the protest in Mumbai, many people including actor Imran Khan were detained by the police, after which the rhetoric on this issue continues.
