While talking to media in Nagpur, Ajit Pawar said that the first round of meeting has been held regarding seat sharing in Mahayuti.
BJP-Shiv Sena leaders had raised questions on NCP’s alliance with BJP in Maharashtra, to which Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has responded. Ajit Pawar said during his Nagpur visit on Saturday (31 August) morning – I am not affected by criticism.
If someone has said something, I do not want to comment on it. I am not affected by such statements. I focus on work. We had discussed the alliance with BJP with PM Modi, Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis. If someone says something wrong about the alliance, then our party leaders can also say something wrong.
In fact, on Friday, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Health Minister Tanaji Sawant had said that sitting next to Ajit Pawar in the cabinet makes me feel nauseous. We never got along with the NCP. Apart from this, BJP spokesperson Ganesh Hake had also said that the NCP should break the alliance.
After responding to these two statements, Ajit said that everything is going well in the alliance. The first round of discussions on seat sharing for the assembly elections has already taken place. We will sit again for the second time and decide who will get which seat out of the 288 seats.
NCP Sharad faction said- Mahayuti does not need NCP anymore

NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto said, “Sawant’s comment shows that the Mahayuti (BJP, Shiv Sena-Shinde faction, NCP) no longer needs the NCP. The RSS mouthpiece had asked the BJP why they formed an alliance with Ajit Pawar. The BJP cadre is also asking the same question.”
He said that the time has come for BJP to expel NCP from the Mahayuti. It is time for Ajit Pawar to wake up and understand the situation. BJP will gradually expel Ajit Pawar from the Mahayuti. All is not well and the cracks are increasing day by day.
NCP Ajit faction said- Tanaji Sawant should be removed from the cabinet
On Tanaji’s statement, NCP (Ajit) spokesperson Umesh Patil had demanded the dismissal of Tanaji Sawant. He said – either Tanaji should remain in the Mahayuti cabinet or NCP. If Tanaji is not dismissed, then we should withdraw from the Mahayuti cabinet. I request our national president Ajit Pawar and all our senior leaders to withdraw from the cabinet.
Patil said that Pawar should not attend any cabinet meeting until Sawant is sacked. Our ministers should also boycott cabinet meetings until Sawant is sacked. We will not accept Sawant’s apology or his statement that his words were misinterpreted. We want him to leave immediately.
The term of the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) government will end in November 2024
- At present, there is a BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) government in Maharashtra. Its term is ending in November 2024. Elections may be held in October 2024. Elections were held in 2019 for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. BJP became the largest party in the state with 106 MLAs.
- The Shiv Sena and BJP alliance could not reach a consensus on the post of Chief Minister. Shiv Sena with 56 MLAs formed the Mahavikas Aghadi government along with Congress with 44 MLAs and NCP with 53 MLAs. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister.
- May 2022 Urban Development Minister in Maharashtra Government and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde rebelled along with 39 MLAs. He joined BJP. On 30 June 2022, Eknath Shinde took oath as the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
- With this, the Shiv Sena party split into two factions. One faction was formed by the Shinde faction and the other by the Uddhav faction. On February 17, 2023, the Election Commission ordered that the party’s name ‘Shiv Sena’ and the party’s election symbol ‘bow and arrow’ will remain with the Eknath Shinde faction.
