In the film Waqt, released in 2005, Shefali Shah played the role of mother of 6 years elder actor Akshay Kumar, for which the actress has expressed regret. Shefali has told that Amitabh Bachchan had suggested her husband and its director Vipul Shah to cast Shefali. However, Shefali’s husband did not want her to do this role.

Recently, in an interview given to Times Now, Shefali was asked about her casting in the film Waqt. He was asked whether this was a setback in his career. On this Shefali said- ‘Absolutely’. When she was asked whether her husband had made her do this. On this Shefali said- ‘No, he told me not to do this. Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan) advised him why don’t you prepare Shefali for this role. He said, no, I don’t think that will happen.

The film Waqt was released in 2005.

Shefali further said, ‘One day I put powder in my hair and said look, I am looking old and mature. He (Vipul Shah) said, I told you not to do this. But I said, no I want to do it. I dug my own grave.’

Shefali Shah has said in the conversation that after this film, she had to wait a long time for a good role. He also said that apart from one or two such films, he is proud of the films of his career, which also include films like Gandhi My Father, The Last Lear, Once Again, Three of Us.
