After the ongoing protest at Delhi’s India Gate demanding justice in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, Delhi Police detained Ankita’s parents, Congress leader Pawan Kheda and many opposition leaders and protesters. Congress Leader and Mangalore MLA Qazi Nizamuddin said that Ankita’s parents were protesting peacefully in front of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi encouraged the family, but late at night the police started taking the protesters into custody.
Qazi Nizamuddin alleged that the police, which should be investigating the alleged VIP angle, is detaining Ankita’s parents. He said that Congress will continue this fight. Demanding action against Dushyant Gautam, he said that the agitation will continue until his demands are met.

Ankita Bhandari, 19, who worked as a receptionist at Vanantra Resort in Rishikesh, was murdered on September 18, 2022, and her body was recovered from the Chilla Canal.
