The stock market is witnessing a boom today on the fifth and last trading day of the week, i.e. Friday (16 August). The Sensex is trading at a level of 79,720 with a gain of more than 600 points. At the same time, the Nifty is also up by about 200 points. It is trading at a level of 24,320.
Asian markets rise: Japan’s stock market rose 2.92%
- Asian markets are witnessing a rise today. Japan’s Nikkei is up 2.92%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is up 1.73% and China’s Shanghai Composite is up 0.092%. Korea’s Kospi is also witnessing a rise of 1.79%.
- On Wednesday, the Dow Jones of the US market rose 1.39% and closed at 40,563. The Nasdaq also rose 2.34% and closed at 17,594. The S&P500 rose 1.61% and closed at 5,543 points.
- Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares worth ₹17,565 crore on August 14. During this period, Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth ₹12,269 crore. That is, foreign investors sold on Wednesday. Yesterday, Thursday, the market was closed due to Independence Day holiday.

The stock market was closed yesterday (Thursday, August 15) due to Independence Day holiday. Earlier, the market saw a rise on Wednesday (August 14). The Sensex closed at 79,065 with a rise of 150 points. On the other hand, the Nifty saw a rise of only 4 points. It closed at 24,143.
Out of the 50 stocks on the Nifty, 24 stocks rose and 26 fell. Out of the 30 stocks on the Sensex, 16 stocks rose and 14 fell.
