Many countries around the world are struggling with low fertility rates. In Singapore the fertility rate has reached 0.97. Which is much less than the fertility rate of 2.1 required to maintain population balance. Elon Musk tweeted about this and said that Singapore is coming to an end.

According to Newsweek, due to the increasing elderly population, decreasing workforce and decreasing labor power in Singapore, robots are being used in everything from factories to food distribution. By 2030, 25% of Singapore’s population will be over 65 years of age.

50% decline in world fertility rate in 70 years

According to the International Federation of Robotics, the number of robots in Singapore is 770 for every 10,000 workers. Because of this, there is a glut of robocops, robo-cleaners, robo-waiters and robo-dogs everywhere.

By the 1970s, the average woman in countries like South Korea, Japan and China had more than five children. Now in these countries on an average there is not even one child per woman. In the last 70 years, there has been a 50% decline in fertility rates all over the world.

Due to the low population in Singapore, robocops, robo-cleaners, robo-waiters are being deployed.

Scheme to give cash on birth of child in South Korea

The situation in South Korea, Japan and Singapore is quite worrying. In South Korea the fertility rate has come down to 0.72. Japan has already become the fastest aging country in the world.

South Korea has also started a scheme to give cash to women for having more children. According to the government plan, women who give birth after 2022 will get a cash bonus of US $ 1,850 (Rs 1,57,000) to meet pre-delivery expenses.

What is the meaning of fertility rate?

The average number of children a woman of any country, society or group becomes the mother of in her lifetime is called the fertility rate of that country, society or group. For example, if an Indian woman becomes a mother of three children on an average in her lifetime, then the fertility rate of India will be 3. The population of any country increases at a compound growth rate, that is, in future, children also have children. According to this formula, if the fertility rate of any country, society or group is 2.1, then in the coming time its existing population will be replaced by the new population.

Recommendation to promote immigration

Many experts recommend promoting immigration of outsiders to the respective areas to deal with the declining birth rate. But, this treatment will not be effective. Immigration into rich countries today is at a record high. Due to this, the shortage of workers is getting resolved in some countries. But declining birth rates worldwide will lead to a shortage of young educated workers by the middle of this century. Since people do not want to give birth to more children, the world will have to face the problem of low number of youth and shrinking population.
