Rahul Gandhi made stinging attacks on CEC Gyanesh Kumar and the Narendra Modi government over alleged irregularities in the electoral process. He linked ‘vote theft’ with ‘law theft’. Rahul said that if votes were stolen, then the laws and institutional changes made by the lawmakers elected with such votes would also be illegal.
He also held Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar responsible for the alleged irregularities and claimed that two election commissioners had blamed the CEC for it.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that Indian elections were being “rigged” and claimed to have “100% certainty” that the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were rigged.
Gandhi said, “There is already enough information to be 100% sure – not 99%, but 100% sure – that the Indian elections, the Lok Sabha elections, the 2024 elections and the assembly elections are being rigged.”
Gandhi questioned why the anti-incumbency wave – which he said had repeatedly affected the Congress and regional parties – seemed to be missing in the recent elections.
He gave the example of the popularity of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after the 1971 Bangladesh war, after which there was a huge surge in the anti-incumbency wave just a few years later.
Gandhi asked, “This is exactly what happens with many leaders one after the other. It happens with Congress leaders. It happens with regional parties. But for some reason, it never happens with Narendra Modi. Doesn’t it happen with Shah? Doesn’t it happen with BJP?”
Citing changes in election results in Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat, he argued that the traditional pattern of anti-incumbency wave has changed.
Vote is the foundation of our country
Gandhi said Congress was trying to understand why this was happening and linked the answer to the problems in the electoral process.
He said, “Voting is the foundation of our country,” and argued that the Election Commission is the institutional custodian of the vote.
Gandhi said that the Constitution gets strength only through voting, laws are made from the Constitution and institutions are made from the laws.
He said, “If the vote has ended, then our Constitution has also ended. It no longer has that strength. It is no longer working.”
He alleged that the Election Commission had failed to fulfill its responsibility of vote security and said that he was not making these allegations “out of thin air”.
Gyanesh should become a government witness
Rahul Gandhi said that his suggestion to Gyanesh Kumar is that he should become a government witness, because it would be an act of patriotism.
The Leader of Opposition said, “Both PM Modi and Home Minister Shah will be investigated for what is happening. They are at the top of this conspiracy and will be investigated for what they have done to this country.” He said that he is a “traitor” because he has removed the importance of vote in the country’s democracy.
