After the Satya Niketan accident, serious questions were raised regarding the safety of PG buildings in Delhi. After which a survey of PG buildings was conducted. Now the report of this survey of MCD has come out. A total of 2,453 PG buildings in the capital were surveyed. Out of which 2,342 i.e. 95.5% buildings were found to be visually safe.
In the survey, the condition of some buildings was found to be worrying. 4 PG buildings were found dangerous to look at. A total of 89 people are living in these buildings. Apart from this, 85 buildings were found to be potentially weak in the survey.
At the same time, 121 PG buildings were found to be in need of repair. Of these, there are 91 PGs which require minor repairs. While 30 buildings need major repairs.
Situation in South Zone is worrying
In this survey of MCD, the situation in Civil Lines and South Zone was found to be the most worrying.

Renovated buildings in Keshav Puram
One dangerous building was found among 321 buildings in Keshav Puram, in which 20 people live. Apart from this, 3 buildings are in the category of minor repairs.
64 buildings in Civil Lines need repair
Survey of 608 PG buildings was conducted in Civil Lines zone. In this, 544 PG buildings were found safe. Whereas, 38 were found to need minor repairs. Whereas 26 were found to need major repairs. 1 was found to be load-bearing and 5 potentially weak structures. That means 64 buildings in this division alone need repair.
Weak buildings in Karol Bagh, Keshav Puram and Najafgarh also
Most of the 365 buildings in Karol Bagh were found safe. However, 5 buildings required minor repairs and 1 required major repairs. Six potentially weak framed structures have also been found here.
In Najafgarh, out of 106 buildings, 10 minor and 2 major buildings were found in repair. Two potentially weak framed structures have also been identified.
Situation is better in many places
The situation is comparatively better in Narela, Rohini, City SP, Shahdara North, West and Central zones. All 36 buildings surveyed in a division of Rohini were found safe. Whereas in both the divisions of the Central Zone, out of total 191 buildings, no building came under repair or dangerous category.
How did the accident happen?
on 6th September Delhi A five-storey PG building had collapsed in Satya Niketan area. Seven people had died in this accident. According to the information, when the building collapsed, repair work was going on in the basement of the building.

Those who lost their lives in the accident include 20-year-old student Abhishek from Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, 20-year-old student Yuvraj Soni from Dugk, Chhattisgarh, 17-year-old Pawan student from Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, 19-year-old student Arpit Jahaz from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, 18-year-old student Akshat Singh Yadav from Katni, Madhya Pradesh and 75-year-old laborer Surinder Singh. At the same time, three people were seriously injured in the case.
