The player auction for the fifth season of the Women’s Premier League will be held in Kochi today. The auction will start at 5:30 pm.
Bidding will be held on 146 players in this mini auction. Of these, 27 players can be bought. Only 7 slots are vacant for foreign players.
UP Warriors have the maximum amount of Rs 3.75 crore left before the auction. At the same time, Mumbai Indians have the least amount of Rs 90 lakh. In the news, know the rules of the auction and about 6 such players who can be sold at an expensive price.

Highlights of Mini Auction 2027
- Each WPL team can have a maximum of 18 players, which includes 6 foreign players.
- This auction is a mini auction, so teams will not get a chance to use the Right to Match (RTM) card.
- The five teams have retained 63 players before the auction, of which 23 are foreign players.
- All franchisees are allowed to spend a maximum of Rs 15 crore. This includes the money spent on the players retained by the teams.
Difference between mini auction and mega auction
- Teams can retain most of the players in the mini auction. If the team wants, it can keep all the players of the squad in the team. However, you can use the Right to Match card.
- Let us understand the Right to Match card with an example – Suppose the Mumbai team includes a player released from the Delhi team in their team by making the highest bid in the auction, then if Delhi wants, it can use this card to include him in its team. However, the player will have to spend the same amount of money from his purse as bid in the auction.
- In the mega auction, a team can retain a maximum of 5 players by including the right match card. Then with the remaining money he has to complete the squad of 18 players. Usually mega auction happens every 3 years. The previous mega auction was held for the WPL 2025 season, while the next one will take place before the 2028 season.
