The Omani co-pilot who tried to hijack a flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel was a religious fundamentalist. A pilot who worked with him made this claim while talking to Israeli News Channel 16.

The identity of the co-worker has not been made public. According to him, the accused did not even shake hands with women. He said, ‘The company employed a terrorist, due to which the lives of about 180 passengers were put in danger.

According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after being caught, the accused was shouting – ‘Kill me.’

Captain attacked with knife, plane fell thousands of feet

The Omani co-pilot attacked Indian Captain Smit Mosquito with a knife in the cockpit and tried to hijack the plane, during which the plane fell thousands of feet within a few minutes.

Despite being seriously injured, the Captain opened the cockpit door. After this the passengers and crew members controlled the accused. Other pilots took over the plane and made a safe landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The investigation into the reason behind the attack is still ongoing.

Started working in flydubai only 9 months ago

According to media reports, the accused started working in Flydubai about 9 months ago. An Omani official confirmed this to American news channel CBS. The name of the accused has not been made public.

After the incident, the question also arose as to how the accused got duty in the flight to Israel. Israel and Oman do not have formal diplomatic relations. However, it is not yet clear whether there was any lapse in the security check of the accused or not.

UAE will investigate whether the attack was a terrorist plot or not

The UAE is investigating whether the attack was terrorism-related or pre-planned. Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz described the incident as a ‘jihadi terrorist attack’.
