The story starts with flashbacks of old vagabondage and then returns to the life of Shivam Pandit (Emraan Hashmi). Shivam runs an orphanage, where a girl named Aaliya lives. Some people take Aaliya with them on the pretext of adoption and later it is revealed that she has fallen into the hands of a human trafficking gang. Meanwhile, an Interpol officer contacts Shivam and gives him a mission to reach out to a child trafficking gang. Shivam reaches Bangkok, where he encounters Puran Gabbi. During this time, he meets the gangster’s daughter Disha (Disha Patani), who later supports him. Along with the mission, Shivam also confronts his old pain and relationships. How is the acting of the actors? Emraan Hashmi carries the entire film on his shoulders. The same old vagabond intensity is visible in Shivam’s pain, anger and loneliness. His changed look and body transformation also suits the character very well. Shabana Azmi is a big surprise in the character of Nafisa and creates awe with her face and voice. Disha Patani has good screen presence, although her expressions seem similar at many places. Puran Gabbi is fine, but feels a bit light in front of Emraan Hashmi’s intense presence. If there was a little more fear and weight in the character, the impact could have increased. Whereas Suvinder Vicky impresses with his presence. How is the music of the film? Nitin Kakkar has tried to connect the emotional world of old vagabondage with a new action and crime story. The balance between Shivam’s pain and his mission is good. The emotional aspect of the film is effective at many places, although some scenes seem long and the pace of the story is a bit slow. A little more tightness could have made it more effective. How are the technical aspects of the film? Vishnu Rao’s cinematography captures the dark and serious atmosphere of the film well. The visuals leave an impact in the Bangkok locations, action and emotional scenes. However, at some places, there is scope for better work at the level of action and production. How is the music of the film? The music of the film is its great strength. While maintaining the old memories of wandering, the new songs also have the color of pain, love and nostalgia. ‘Ve Junoon’, ‘Yeh Awarapan’, ‘Tera Mera Rishta Continues’ and ‘Tere Liye’ strengthen the emotional quotient of the film. The same depth of the old songs is not found everywhere, but the music definitely captures the mood of the film. Final Verdict: Watch the movie or not? Awarapan 2 doesn’t offer much new in the story, but Emraan Hashmi’s pain, Shabana Azmi’s powerful presence and the music make it worth watching. If the pain and music of the first vagrancy is still remembered, then this film will definitely take you closer to that feeling. The pain is the same, the love is the same, only Shivam’s fight is bigger this time.
