NIA punished more than 100 culprits in 18 months

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday said that it has convicted more than 100 convicts in cases including terrorism and counterfeit Indian currency in the last 18 months. The anti-terrorism agency convicted 79 accused in 27 cases in 2023. After this, 26 were sentenced in six cases heard by NIA special courts in the first half of 2024. This has increased the number of convicts convicted in various cases under NIA from 2019 to June 2024 to 354.

The Gujarat High Court has asked the state government to take disciplinary action against two former municipal commissioners of Vadodara for the boat capsize incident. The court has said that they are guilty of dereliction of duty and abuse of official position.
