Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday denied reports of a terrorist attack on a security post in the high altitude areas of Udhampur district. Police said that a sentry on security duty had opened fire as a precautionary measure after noticing some suspicious movements.

The sentry fired a few rounds in the air at around 8 pm and the area was later searched but nothing was found. After the incident in Basantgarh’s Sang area, the police said people are advised to refrain from spreading baseless information.

Meanwhile, the search operation to capture the terrorists involved in the Kathua terror attack continued for the third day on Wednesday. During this, at least 24 people have been detained for questioning.

A committee has been formed to identify illegal foreigners living in Jammu and Kashmir
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has formed a seven-member committee to identify illegal foreign nationals living in the state for more than 13 years. The committee will have to submit a report to the Union Home Ministry on the 5th of every month. The Administrative Secretary of the Home Department will be the chairman of this committee.

Amarnath Yatra: More than 2 lakh devotees in 11 days

This time, a record number of 2.20 lakh devotees have reached Amarnath Yatra in 11 days. The yatra is of 52 days. Earlier, in 2011, the record of maximum 6.35 lakh devotees reaching the yatra was made. On Tuesday, more than 20 thousand devotees reached here from both Baltal and Pahalgam routes. The Amarnath Yatra which started on 29 June will continue till 19 August.
