A CCTV footage of the accused in the death of a 10-year-old girl in Jaynagar, South 24 Parganas of West Bengal has surfaced. Before the incident, the accused was seen in a shop.
In the CCTV footage, the 19-year-old accused was seen wearing a pink shirt, who was leaving the shop on a bicycle. Police say that he had taken the minor with him on a bicycle.
A friend of the victim told the police that she had seen the accused and the victim on a bicycle. This helped the police to identify and arrest the murderer.
CM Mamta demanded to register a case under POCSO Act in this matter and give death penalty to the culprits within 3 months. Also said that crime has no colour, caste or religion. Media trial of rape case should be stopped.
In fact, the body of the girl was recovered by the local people on October 5 in Kultali police station area of Kripakhali area of Jaynagar. She was a fourth class student. The family accused the girl of murder after rape. In protest against the incident, the mob set fire to the Mahismari police post and pelted stones at the policemen.

Lakata HC’s order – get postmortem done again The hearing in the case of the girl’s death was held in Calcutta High Court on Sunday. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh ordered a second postmortem of the girl’s body.
The court held this hearing on the petition filed by the parents of the deceased girl. The court said in the instructions – Post-mortem should be conducted at AIIMS, Kalyani in the presence of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) of Baruipur Court on Monday.
Postmortem should be done only by doctors of Kalyani AIIMS. Justice Ghosh ordered that the police should register a case under the POCSO Act. If Kalyani AIIMS lacks the basic structure required for postmortem, then it should be done at Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Hospital in Kalyani.
Justice has directed that only the doctors of Kalyani AIIMS should conduct the postmortem. Not a doctor from a government hospital. The girl’s body is currently at the PM House in Kantapukur. It was here that the first post-mortem of the dead body was done.
The family said – the girl had many injuries on her body, arms and legs were broken. The victim’s family has made a big claim regarding the incident. The girl’s aunt told news agency ANI that there were many injuries on her (girl’s) body. Hands and legs were broken. The family also accused the police of ignoring the case.
Aunt told that the girl had gone for tuition on 4th October. She went missing while returning. Her father tried to search for the girl everywhere but when he could not find her, he went to Mahismari police station. However, the police there did not listen to him and asked him to go to Jaynagar police station.
Display Clash between BJP leaders and police

Heavy security forces were deployed in South 24 Parganas to stop BJP leaders from going to the police station.
On the other hand, BJP leaders protested in the district today against the incident. West Bengal BJP president Sukant Majumdar, MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, MLA Agnimitra Paul were also among the protesters. During this time he also clashed with the police.
Jyotirmoy Singh said that we wanted to meet the in-charge of the police station but the police put up barricades. As if we are not MPs but some anti-national element. Police do not want justice, they just want to save the accused.
Governor said – Rape cases increased due to delay in timely action Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has targeted the state government. He told news agency PTI that rape cases have increased due to lack of timely action from the state government.
The Governor said that the carelessness with which the West Bengal government handled the rape-murder case of a trainee doctor in the Medical College of Kolkata is giving rise to such incidents in the state. Anand Bose said that there is no solution to violence in Bengal.

People said- Police showed attitude like Kolkata rape-murder case. A local person claimed that the family had lodged an FIR at Mahismari outpost after the girl went missing on October 4. However, the police did not take this complaint seriously and did not take action. The attitude of the police was the same as the attitude of Kolkata Police after the rape-murder of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Hospital and the body was found.
People said, ‘We will protest until all the accused of rape and murder of our daughter are punished. Action should also be taken against those police officers who delayed taking action. If the police had acted immediately, the girl could have been saved.
BJP said- Mamta Banerjee is not able to protect girls in Bengal

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha had demonstrated in Kolkata on October 5 after the dead body of the girl was found in South 24 Parganas.
Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukant Majumdar said, ‘A Class IV girl returning from tuition in Kripakhali was raped and murdered. The villagers recovered his body from the river bed. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not able to protect women. Girls of Bengal are not safe even during Navratri. I want to ask Mamata Banerjee how many more Bengali girls will have to face this plight under your misrule.
BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul said, ‘The body of a 9-year-old girl returning from tuition yesterday was found in the canal today. Mamata Banerjee’s police did not register an FIR. According to those who have seen the girl’s body, there were injuries on her body similar to those on the body of Abhaya (Kolkata Trainee Doctor Rape-Murder).
In this case the dead body should be preserved. Postmortem should be done in a hospital under the central government. I spoke to the girl’s father and he agreed that the body should be kept safe. CM should take responsibility because she is protecting the accused. We will demand death sentence to the accused and a CBI investigation into the case.

According to the police, the FIR was registered at 9 pm on Friday night. After this the police swung into action and after preliminary investigation arrested an accused this morning.

People protested across the country including Bengal against the incident. The protest of junior doctors is still going on in Bengal. They are demanding the removal of the Health Secretary from the post.
