Kartik Aryan has been given the National Award for Best Actor for the film Chandu Champion. The ceremony took place on Tuesday in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, where President Draupadi Murmu gave the award to Karthik. This is Karthik’s first National Award. After winning this, he emotionally recalled his journey from a small town to fulfill his dreams. Karthik has written along with some pictures of the National Award Ceremony, ‘Today I am smilingly remembering that mother’s beloved boy from Gwalior, who dared to dream of becoming an actor in such an environment, where people often laugh at such dreams and move ahead. After all, that moment was in front of my eyes, which I both lived and felt. Even today I can’t believe it due to excitement and nervousness. Karthik further wrote, ‘Dream of a small town boy, dream of every actor in the country, Best Actor honor at the National Film Awards. ‘Not Chandu, I am the champion.’ I will always be grateful to Kabir sir and Sajid sir, who trusted me and gave me the responsibility of playing the character of India’s first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar sir on the big screen. This journey has been very difficult and painful, but its result is as sweet as cream. I feel very emotional and very fortunate at the same time. ‘My biggest support in this long journey has been my faith in myself, the blessings of my parents, their unconditional love and support, the encouragement of my friends at every step, especially when I myself started losing hope. Thanks also to my entire team, who work tirelessly to make my professional life easier. I wholeheartedly thank everyone who has been a part of this seemingly impossible journey. Finally, Karthik writes, ‘I want to share this biggest honor of mine with every Paralympian of the country and all those people who dare to dream impossible dreams and never give up to fulfill them. Heartfelt thanks to the respected jury, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Honorable President for this special moment. In the end I would like to say that this is just the beginning.
