Anemia is becoming a challenge among women aged 15 to 49 years in the country including Rajasthan. The situation is that 54.4 percent women in the state are anemic. In the current situation, Rajasthan is at number 13 in the country, which is a matter of concern. West Bengal has the highest number of women suffering from anemia in the country at 71.4%. It is 60.8% in Chhattisgarh, 58.7% in Punjab and 57.6% in Telangana. In Andhra Pradesh this figure is 57.5%. 54.7% are affected in Madhya Pradesh. This disclosure has been made on the basis of analysis of the data released by the National Family Health Survey (NFHS-5). Surprising figures have been found in the survey conducted from 2019 to 2021. The Central Government has released these figures in the Rajya Sabha. In such a situation, a question mark is raised on the nutrition and anemia campaign. 1.Bad – The situation is worse in the states of North-East and Eastern India. Anemia has been recorded in 67.2% women in Tripura, 65.9-65.9% in Assam and Jharkhand and 64.3% women in Odisha. In Bihar also 63.5% are affected by the disease. 2.Worrying – The situation in the western states is also worrying. 54.2% women in Maharashtra and 50.4% women in UP suffer from anemia, while Uttarakhand recorded the lowest percentage among these states with 42.2%. Anemia increases the risk of weakness, fatigue, dizziness, complications in pregnancy and delivery. According to NFHS-3, 67 percent of women aged 15 to 49 years in the country were found to be anemic, according to NFHS-4, 46.6 percent of women were found to be anemic.
