The monsoon has knocked in Kerala and Maharashtra. A red alert has been issued in many districts of Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Kerala and Karnataka, especially, while Yellow alert has been issued in Delhi-NCR.
According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon will move forward in Karnataka (including Bengaluru), parts of Andhra Pradesh, the rest of Tamil Nadu and the next three days in the Northeast.
At the same time, the south-west monsoon has reached Maharashtra. The record of the last 35 years has been broken by this. The monsoon of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) will also reach Mumbai and other parts of the state in the next three days. Earlier in 1990, the monsoon reached Maharashtra on 20 May.
M. Rajeevan, a meteorologist and former secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, said that it is not uncommon to spread the monsoon in the large area in the initial phase. In 1971 too, the monsoon covered large parts of Karnataka and Maharashtra on the first day. This time too, the active monsoon situation can remain till June 2, so that it will move forward in Maharashtra and Eastern India.
On the other hand, monsoon rains in Kerala caused heavy havoc on Sunday. IMD has issued a red alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod districts, where there is a possibility of more than 20 cm of rainfall. ‘Orange Alert’ continues in other districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad, where rainfall may occur from 11 to 20 cm. 1. Delhi-NCR will rain again
On Sunday morning, Delhi-NCR received heavy rainfall. Due to this, many roads became full. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has projected light rains in Delhi-NCR, thunderstorms and lightning. And Yellow alert has been issued for this region.
2. Red Alert in Kerala and Karnataka
There is a possibility of heavy rains in coastal areas of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra from 25 to 31 May. Whereas in Kerala, torrential rains are forecast on 25-26 May and in Karnataka on 25-27 May.
3. Impact in the Ghat areas of Tamil Nadu
The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert for rain and strong winds in the hilly areas of Tamil Nadu on 25 and 26 May.
4. Heavy rain estimated in north-eastern states
Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may receive torrential rains from 25 to 31 May. Excessive heavy rainfall is estimated in these areas between 28 to 31 May.
5. Maharashtra, Gujarat and Marathwada will have severe rainfall
There is a strong thunderstorm (50-70 km/h) and rain alert in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Marathwada. Konkan and Goa may receive very heavy rainfall in some areas by May 30. The Meteorological Department has projected heavy rains in South Gujarat for the next 4 days and general to moderate rains in Saurashtra.
6. Weather will deteriorate in Bay of Bengal
The weather will deteriorate and heavy rains will be due to low-pressure systems made in south central Maharashtra and surrounding areas.
7. Expect relief from heat in Rajasthan
The heat is expected to decrease in Rajasthan from May 28, although the scorching heat and hot nights will continue till May 27. Dusty thunderstorms can also run on 25-26 May.
8. Rain warning in Uttarakhand and Himachal also
Heavy rains are expected in Uttarakhand from 25 May and then 28 to 30 May, while in Himachal on 30-31 May, heavy rains are expected. Hail rain has also been warned on 27-28 May.
