A case of gang rape of a 16 year old student in a sleeper bus has come to light in Delhi. The incident took place on August 4, police informed about it on Monday.
According to the police, the victim boarded the bus at Pari Chowk. The accused left him at Kashmiri Gate. During this time the bus continued running on the road for about 47 km. There were curtains on the glass of the bus.
Police have arrested bus driver Kuldeep and conductor Sandeep. The victim is a resident of Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh and a class 11 student.
The student had left home after a fight and was going to Noida.
According to Delhi Police, the victim had a fight at his home. After which she left the house at night without informing the family. She was going to meet her cousin living in Noida.
Due to heavy rain and darkness, she accidentally landed at Pari Chowk. Meanwhile, an empty sleeper bus passed by there.
After getting stuck in the rain, the student sought help and signaled the bus to stop, after which the bus stopped.
The driver and conductor allowed him to board the bus and told him that the bus was going to Noida Sector-63. According to the police, sometime after the bus started, the conductor started trying to do obscene acts with the student.
Allegation of threat to kill if protesting
According to the victim, after this the driver and conductor raped her. When the student protested, both of them threatened to kill her.
It is alleged that both of them dropped the student at the Ring Road near Kashmiri Gate Bus Terminal late at night and fled from there.
The scared student contacted Kashmiri Gate police and narrated the entire incident.
The accused were arrested from the bus parking, the bus was also seized
Police arrested both the accused from a bus parking in Timarpur. Police have also seized the sleeper bus used in the incident. Forensic investigation of the bus is being done.
According to police sources, after the bus developed a fault on the day of the incident, the accused had taken it to a workshop in Surajpur for repair.
After the repairs were completed, the driver and conductor were taking the empty bus to Timarpur when they met the student at Pari Chowk.
Police said that both of them used the curtained interior of the bus to hide the crime during the late night journey. Due to which people passing outside could not see inside.
