This song was banned in India by the British in 1942 after World War II. After the independence of the country in August 1947, the ban was lifted from this song and since then it became a popular patriotic song in India. A day earlier, BSF had thwarted a major attempt to infiltrate suspected militants near the international border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. In this BSF action, 7 Lashkar terrorists were killed.
