The first phase of Tarang Shakti 2024 Air Exercise will run till August 14.
Indian Air Force’s Air Exercise Tarang Shakti is starting from today in Sulur, Tamil Nadu. 10 most powerful air forces of the world including India are participating in it. India will showcase indigenous fighter aircraft in it. These include Tejas, Rafale, Mirage, Jaguar and Mig 29.
Other countries participating in Taran Shakti include the US, France, the UK, Australia, Japan, the UAE, Hungary, Germany, Spain, South Africa and Bangladesh.
This will be the first time when the German Air Force will conduct a war exercise with the Indian Air Force. However, due to the recent coup in Bangladesh, there is doubt over the arrival of its Air Force.

This contingent of the Air Force had participated in the Pitch Black exercise in Australia.

Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan took over just two months ago. However, Bangladesh has not yet backed down. We have to wait, because now the priorities are different.
Tarang Shakti air exercise will be conducted in 2 phases
About 30 countries will participate in Tarang Shakti. This exercise will be held in two phases. The first phase will run till August 14. In the first phase, the air forces of France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom will bring their fighter planes.
The second phase will be held in Jodhpur, Rajasthan from 29 August to 14 September. It will include 6 countries including Australia, Bangladesh, Greece, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and America.
The aim of this exercise is to showcase India’s defence capabilities and increase cooperation between the armies participating in the war exercise.
There will be ground practice along with combat drills in the air exercise
For the past several years, India has been conducting joint military exercises with many countries. Recently, the Army has conducted three military exercises at Mahajan Firing Range. Two versions of Garuda military exercises have been conducted between the Indian and French Air Forces in Jodhpur.
Apart from this, Eastern Bridge Exercise with Oman has also been conducted in Jodhpur. In this war game, pilots, engineers and ground staff of all the countries will share their skills and methods of war.
For example, there will be mock drills in the air in which the air forces of 10 countries will be given different targets. Similarly, the ground staff will also practice maintenance.
France will join with 3 Rafales, one MRTT and 160 soldiers

It is an Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) air refueling and military transport plane.
According to the French Embassy, the French Air Force contingent will include three Rafales, one Multirole Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft and one A400M, along with 160 soldiers. The French contingent’s participation is part of their 2-month-long mission in the Indo-Pacific region, which began in France in late June, and will conclude on August 15.
