Bengaluru’s Tim David got demerit points thrice this season.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Tim David has been suspended from the first match of IPL 2027. He has also been fined 50% of his match fee for violating the code of conduct during the match against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final.
Ice bag thrown on umpire Nitin
David had thrown an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon during the 10th over of Gujarat’s innings. The incident was considered a Level-1 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct.
5 demerit points
David was also given two demerit points in this case. With this, his total demerit points in the IPL 2026 season became five. According to the rules, if there are five demerit points, the player is suspended from the first match of the next season.
Even before this, David had committed Level-1 violation twice. He committed his first violation in match number 20, for which he received one demerit point. This was followed by a second violation in match number 54, in which he was given two demerit points.
David also scored a fifty in this IPL.
Punishment under Article 2.9
This violation was registered under Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This rule deals with throwing any object, such as a ball or cricket equipment, in an unfair or dangerous manner towards a player, team official, umpire, match referee or any other person during a match.
For this reason David will not be able to play in the first match of RCB in IPL 2027. If he is part of another franchise next season, his first match for that team will be missed under suspension.
David scored 305 runs in the season
Bengaluru finisher Tim David scored 305 runs in 16 matches in IPL 2026. His average was 33.89 and strike rate was 188.27. He scored a half-century, in which 70 not out was his best innings. David hit 22 fours and 23 sixes in the season.
David has scored 1151 runs in 66 IPL matches so far. His average is 32.89 and strike rate is 177.08. He has scored 2 half-centuries.
David has 76 fours, 83 sixes and 32 catches in his name in IPL.
Bengaluru won the title for the second consecutive time
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the IPL for the second consecutive time. The team defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the final on Sunday. Virat Kohli gave the team victory by hitting a six on the last ball of the 18th over. Kohli returned unbeaten on 75 runs. Virat was chosen player of the match.
Tim David scored 24 runs on 17 balls. He also hit 3 fours and a six. David was caught by Arshad Khan at the hands of Josh Hazlewood.
