- It is necessary to solve business deficit: India’s largest trade deficit is from BRICS countries, especially China. It is necessary to solve this problem quickly, so that business between BRICS countries is balanced and beneficial for all.
- Large organizations fail in global crisis: Corona, war and climate crisis have disturbed the whole world. But large organizations like the United Nations have failed to solve these problems. Therefore, there is a need to improve these institutions.
- It is not right to connect business with politics: It is not beneficial to connect business with politics or non-commercial matters. BRICS countries should review mutual trade.

PM Modi, Brazilian President Lula de Silva and leaders of BRICS countries took group photographs.
What is BRICS?
BRICS is a group of countries with 11 major emerging economies. These include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Indonesia.
Its purpose is to promote economic, political and social cooperation among these countries. It initially had 4 countries, called BRIC. The name was given in 2001 by Jim O’Neel, an economist of Goldman Sachs.
He then said that Brazil, Russia, India and China will carry forward the global economy in the coming decades. Later these countries came together and adopted this name.
Need to make BRICS and travel ahead
Western countries dominated the world’s economy after the fall of the Soviet Union and in the early 2000s. America’s dollars and international institutions such as International Monetary Fund (IMF) made decisions.
Russia, India, China and Brazil came together to reduce this American dominance, which later became BRICS. The purpose of these countries was to strengthen the voice of global South i.e. developing and poor countries.
