The Election Commission has issued an advisory on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in campaigning before the Delhi elections. The Commission has instructed political parties to use AI properly.
The Commission has said that if the parties are using content generated by AI, then they must include a disclaimer in it. So that the public knows that this content has been generated by AI. Despite this, if wrong information is being given by any party or leader, then action will be taken.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar recently warned against the use of AI and ‘deep fakes’ to spread misinformation in elections. He said;-
Misinformation spread through such technologies can reduce people’s trust in the electoral process.
2 big things of the Commission in the advisory
1. Mandatory labeling and disclaimers for AI content The Election Commission has said in the new guidelines that political parties and candidates should put clear labels on any content created or changed through AI technology like photos, videos, audios etc. Like AI-Generated, Digitally Enhanced or Synthetic Content.
2. Disclaimer must also be added to promotional content It will be mandatory to give disclaimer in the promotion content or advertisement created through AI. The aim of the Election Commission is that the elections should not be influenced with the help of AI.

Delhi Assembly Elections – Voting in single phase on 5th February, results on 8th February
Voting will be held in a single phase on 70 assembly seats of Delhi on February 5. The results will come on 8 February. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar gave this information on Tuesday.
