China currently has 500 nuclear warheads.

China successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Wednesday. A fake warhead was installed in this missile. According to the BBC, this is the first time since 1980 that China has tested an ICBM missile in the Pacific Ocean.

The missile was launched at 8:44 am. China’s Defense Ministry said that the missile fell into the sea at the same place where it was expected. This is a part of China’s annual training. However, no information has been revealed about the specialty of this missile and its launching location.

China claims- Neighbouring countries were informed about the test China’s state media Xinhua said that the neighboring countries were informed before the missile testing. However, Japan has denied this. Till now China has always tested its ICB missiles inside the country. Till now these were done in the Taklamakan deserts of Xinjiang region.

After the test, China has said that it was not done with any one country as a target. However, this test is being considered important amid tensions with Japan, Philippines and Taiwan.

China last tested an ICBM in international waters in May 1980. Then it covered a distance of 9,070 km and hit the target in the Pacific Ocean. 18 Chinese naval ships participated in this test. This is considered to be one of the biggest naval missions of China till date.

China has ICBM with a range of 15 thousand km The details of the missile that China tested have not been revealed. However, the DF-41 ICBM was shown during the parade on the completion of 70 years of the People’s Republic of China in 2019. This is one of China’s newest ICBMs. The range of this missile is 12 thousand to 15 thousand km.

Earlier, China had tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile in August 2021. However, this test missile of China failed to hit its target. The missile fell about 32 kilometers away from the target. China kept this test completely confidential.

Due to being hypersonic, America’s missile defense system was unable to detect the missile. Despite the test failing, it had increased America’s concern.
