Congress seems divided into three factions on the issue of making Gairsain, the summer capital of Uttarakhand, the permanent capital. On one hand, former CM Harish Rawat is continuously posting on social media and talking about making Gairsain the permanent capital in 2027.

.

On the other hand, Congress MLA from Kichha, Tilak Raj Behad is in favor of making Dehradun the permanent capital and not Gairsain, while on the third hand, the party’s state president Karan Mahara is calling the statements of both of them as personal opinions and is advocating strengthening the infrastructure of Gairsain before making it the permanent capital.

At the same time, now BJP is taking a dig at the different statements of these three leaders. BJP MLA from Dharampur Vinod Chamoli said that Congress has no fixed line regarding Gairsain and its leaders are only misleading the public.

Now understand the stand of the three Congress leaders in a sequential manner… 1- Former CM Harish Rawat Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat is continuously posting on Facebook, talking about Gairsain as a permanent capital. While sharing a post on Facebook, he writes. Congress settled Gairsain, improved it and now it will make it the permanent capital in 2027.

Apart from this, there are many posts that he has posted recently in which he is promising the people that if Congress comes to power in 2027, it will make it the permanent capital.

2- Congress MLA Tilak Raj Behad While talking about Gairsain in the House in the special session called on the occasion of Silver Jubilee, Congress MLA from Kichha, Tilak Raj says – Gairsain is already the summer capital. It cannot be made a permanent capital.

Dehradun should be the permanent capital. Not only this, he also says that the assembly building should be built outside Dehradun, during this he also says that the assembly should be built outside the city by taking it out of the jam, there is a lot of land around Dehradun.

3- Congress State President Karan Mahara When Karan Mahara was asked in a press conference that his two leaders are giving different statements but what does the party have to say on this, he distanced himself from the statements of both the leaders.

On this he says – These are personal comments of both Tilak Raj Behad and Harish Rawat ji. This is my personal opinion, not that of Congress. Before making Gairsain a permanent capital, it is necessary to develop basic facilities like hospitals, schools, roads, drinking water there.

BJP said- Congress itself is in dilemma BJP MLA Vinod Chamoli has taken a sharp dig at the various statements of Congress leaders, he said-

Garhwali and Kumaoni languages are spoken in Gairsain.

The demand for making Gairsain the permanent capital started rising since the time of formation of Uttarakhand, after which Gairsain was declared the summer capital on 8 June 2020.

The name of Gairsain is also linked to its geographical identity, in the local dialect “Gair” means deep place and “Sain” means flat plain. That is, a place which appears flat even though it is located in a valley. This is the reason why it is also called a natural plain situated between the mountains.

Situated at an altitude of about 5750 feet above sea level, the weather of this area remains pleasant throughout the year. It is also called Pamir of Uttarakhand, because the Ramganga river originates from here. The biggest feature of Gairsain is that there is a wonderful combination of both Garhwali and Kumaoni cultures.
